“What’s the fastest Lamborghini?” This question is probably asked every 5 minutes at one of our events. So we decided to actually dig into the numbers and discuss how they were calculated. And we’re keeping this to the fastest Lamborghini car. The LM002 and the Urus don’t compare to their main products. We’re not talking about twin turbo aftermarket cars or the Huracan GT3. This is a quest for the fastest production Lamborghini. We could have done this with one phone call, but Mr. Balboni is getting ready for Monterey.Article Originally Published on July 30, 2018 Every car on this page is AWD, and automatic. The single-clutch automatic was known as e-gear, and their latest models are all dual-clutch 7-speed automatics. First up are the 0-60 times. The Murcielago was one of the first supercars to have launch control, which was appropriately named “Thrust Mode”. Sébastien Ogier led a Citroën Racing one-two finish at Rally Turkey on Sunday afternoon to reignite his hopes of a seventh straight FIA World Rally Championship title. He finished 34.7 seconds ahead of longtime leader Esapekka Lappi to claim his first victory since March and climb to second in the standings. He closed the gap on series leader Ott Tänak to 17 points with a maximum 90 available from the final three rounds. Ogier made it clear before the start that nothing less than a win would keep his title hopes alive. While Tänak and fellow championship rival Thierry Neuville fell by the wayside in intense heat on rock-strewn mountain tracks, Ogier and Citroën were masterful. Lappi took the lead on the third of the 17 speed tests on Friday morning and remained on top as Ogier climbed to second. The Frenchman moved to the front late on Saturday when Lappi stalled his C3’s engine in a hairpin and eased through Sunday’s finale for his third victory of … [Read more...] about Sébastien Ogier back in WRC title hunt after victory in Turkey
Ty Gibbs scored a dominant victory in Saturday night's ARCA Menards Series Kentuckiana Ford Dealers Fall Classic 200 at Salem Speedway. Gibbs thoroughly dominated the entire day as he led the day's practice session, set the fast time in General Tire Pole Qualifying, and led every green flag lap to score his second career series victory. "That's all due to my right foot, the guys who build these great racecars and the man upstairs," Gibbs said in victory lane. "It's great to come out here and get our second win of the season. We aren't racing for the championship so it's all about wins for us." Gibbs finished two seconds ahead of Christian Eckes (No. 15 JBL Audio Toyota), who moved to within five points of championship leader Michael Self (No. 25 Sinclair Lubricants Toyota), who suffered a mechanical problem and finished 14th. "It's great to have Salem behind us," Eckes said. "This isn't my favorite track and to come out of here with that big of a gain on Michael is huge for us. It … [Read more...] about Ty Gibbs dominates at Salem for second career ARCA victory
Seeking to reverse their fortunes, the crew of the No. 24 BMW Team RLL BMW M8 GTE opted to go “back in black” with the car’s paint scheme for the Monterey SportsCar Championship Powered by McLaren. It’s worked, at least for IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship qualifying Saturday at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Jesse Krohn put the No. 24 BMW atop the time sheet in GT Le Mans (GTLM) to lead the class heading into Sunday’s race. On his lone flying lap, Krohn was clocked at 1 minute, 21.557 seconds (98.787 mph) around the demanding 11-turn, 2.238-mile permanent road course. The lap broke the GTLM track record of 1:21.914 set two years ago by Toni Vilander. “This track has very high tire deg (degradation), so we knew that we needed to get the lap time done as soon as possible to save the tires for the race,” Krohn said. “I was basically fueled in for two laps, aiming to do it on the first lap. Glad we were able to do it.” Glad, … [Read more...] about Jesse Krohn puts BMW on IMSA GTLM Pole at Laguna Seca
The rules have changed.Certainly, that’s the case in a literal sense as applied to the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series this season with the introduction of a high downforce, low horsepower competition formula. But it goes much deeper than that: The rules of engagement have changed too.The 8" spoiler attached to the rear of these cars have made passing incredibly difficult once cars spread out a few laps into a long green flag run following a chaotic restart. That is especially true on single-groove race tracks where drivers are challenged to find the clean air needed to overcome a wall of air generated by that spoiler. This package rewards aggressive driving from those who are willing to do whatever it takes to pick up track position on restarts. The pursuit of track position has led to more crashing over the summer months. As a result, veterans have started to decry the younger drivers who "race too hard."This topic moved back to the forefront this weekend at Las Vegas when Bubba … [Read more...] about NASCAR’s new rules package means a new rule of engagement
