NZ Transport Agency exploring options for SH4 replacement road

December 10, 2019 by

A replacement road for State Highway 4 could be west of the Mangawhero River, or east of the original road on farm land. SH4 between Whanganui and Raetihi has been closed since early October after an enormous slip destroyed the road about 19 kilometres south of Raetihi.  The New Zealand Transport Agency is building a temporary replacement road for the one destroyed by the large slip, which has stabilised, and is exploring areas to build a replacement road. Transport agency officials presented to Whanganui District Council on Tuesday about what is being done to fix slips on the highway. December 10, 2019 by

India lost the second T20I and will be looking to bounce back from defeat and seal the series. © AFP While India have dominated teams in Test cricket and One-day Internationals (ODI) at home, they have failed to do the same in Twenty20 Internationals (T20I), and that has reflected in the team's current ranking. Ranked fifth in the world in the men's T20I list, India have managed to win just two of their last six T20I series. They drew 1-1 in the 2018/19 series in Australia, which was followed by series losses away to New Zealand and at home to Australia. India managed to dominate the West Indies 3-0 in the T20I series in in United States/West Indies but were held to a 1-1 draw by the visiting South Africans. In their last T20I series, India overcame stiff competition from Bangladesh to win the series 2-1 and in the ongoing series against the West Indies at home, they were pegged back after winning the first encounter. With T20 World Cup scheduled to be held next year, India … [Read more...] about India vs West Indies 3rd T20I: India Look For Answers After Crushing Loss, Secure Series Win

Burnham rejects charges of sexism and urges rivals to ‘keep it positive’

July 26, 2015 by

The Labour leadership hopeful Andy Burnham has moved to silence critics who have accused his supporters of sexism by repeating his pledge to appoint a gender-balanced shadow cabinet and a female Commons deputy. Burnham was speaking following warnings by his leadership rivals Liz Kendall and Yvette Cooper that Labour needed to guard against being a party run only by men, amid allegations that Burnham’s supporters had displayed arrogance over the issue. Cooper said there was a “retro” feel to the campaign, redolent of a previous era, and called for a revamp of the Equality and Human Rights Commission in the wake of the government’s attack on equality. She also warned her own party against electing men as both leader and deputy. Current polling has Jeremy Corbyn and Burnham as the frontrunners for the leadership election, while it looks likely that Tom Watson will win the deputy contest ahead of three women: Stella Creasy, Angela Eagle and Caroline Flint. Burnham, … [Read more...] about Burnham rejects charges of sexism and urges rivals to ‘keep it positive’
