As talented a driver as Jenson Button may be, he never really got a chance to do everything he wanted -- until his F1 career came to an end. Button plied his trade in F1 for 17 years, starting a near-record 306 races in that series, with 15 wins, 50 podiums and that one world title, scored in 2009 with Brawn GP. But all the while he was in F1 he was strictly prohibited from doing any other form of racing. No matter how much fun it looked. Well now the restrictor plates are off.He goes karting as much as he can, and last year Button won the Super GT championship in Japan. But while Super GT might be considered kind of close to F1 (he calls it Formula 1 with a roof), his most recent foray has taken him in a completely different direction in motorsports. We drove out to the desert -- yes, the desert -- to have a look at his Brenthel Industries Spec Trophy Truck. Spec Trophy Truck is just one notch down from full-on Trophy Truck. The team never gave up the lead, not to trucks, motorcycles or ATVs, throughout the course of the day, and sailed across the finish line ahead of everyone for a flag-to-flag victory.According to race organizer SCORE International it was the first time since 2013 that a motorcycle had the fastest time of all vehicles in the race. In the event’s 51 years motorcycles have now finished first 38 times compared to just 13 for the 4-wheel vehicles. This year was also Honda’s 28th overall motorcycle win in the Baja 1000. After the … [Read more...] about Honda motorcycle wins Baja 1000 by 37 seconds over Trophy Truck
