Between dispensable original soundtracks and a deluge of remixes that sound depressingly alike, the drought in imagination is truly regrettable.2019 was a bleak if not entirely black year for music lovers. Andrea Levy's Small Island – her fourth novel – has had a glorious career: it not only won the Orange prize, but was voted "Best of the Best" novels ever to win that award. It was an adroit, funny, tender book about a Jamaican immigrant couple, their big-hearted white landlady and her bigoted husband in postwar London and it beautifully described the struggle to survive in a new country. A novel such as Small Island is a hard act to follow, but in her new book Levy has moved into top gear. Levy has turned her gaze away from British shores and set The Long Song in early 19th-century Jamaica, on a sugar-cane plantation, in the turbulent years before – and just after – the abolition of slavery. The novel is in the form of a memoir written by an old Jamaican woman called July, once a slave on Amity Plantation. Strawberry Blond, the British production company run by former Disney and Warner Bros exec Steve Wynne, is moving into comedy by backing a Bristol-based business. Super Best Quality Video Productions is run by former UKTV and Comedy Central commissioner Joe McVey and backed by The Playlist producer. The company will specialize in scripted and non-scripted comedy. McVey was most recently commissioning editor at BBC Studios-backed UKTV, where he worked on shows including Sharon Horgan-exec produced Women on the Verge and formats such as Hypothetical and Judge Romesh. Priot to that, he has worked at Viacom’s Comedy Central in the UK, and producers Tiger Aspect, Roughcut and Objective. The manufacturer announced that they have sold 15,775 vehicles. Sales have been up for the American based manufacturer in India recently. During March, 2014 Ford reported selling 11,805 vehicles. There is a definite bump up in sales during March, 2015. Ford India was down in terms of domestic wholesales as they sold 5,253 units compared to 6,356 units in the corresponding month last year. Export of their vehicles is on a constant high and it seems evident that Ford will turn India into its manufacturing hub soon. Their export of vehicles grew from 5,449 vehicle in March, 2014 to 10,522 vehicles in March, 2015. With the total commercial and passenger vehicles sales, including exports in March, 52,479 vehicles were sold with, a growth of 3 percent over 51,184 vehicles sold in March 2014. The company's domestic sales of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles for March 2015 were 47,044 units, a growth of 2 percent over 45,996 vehicles, sold in March 2014. Cumulative sales, including exports for the company for FY 14-15 were 502,281 units, lower by 11 percent over 566,695 vehicles, sold last year.
