A classic car dealer is locked in a High Court battle with a super-rich US collector over the world's most expensive car and its missing gearbox. Racing driver and supercar trader Gregor Fisken, based in Kensington, west London, is fighting lawyer Bernard Carl over the $44m (£37million) sale of a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO in October 2017. Just 39 of the cars were built by Ferrari between 1962 and 1964 and the model has, for decades, been regarded as the holy grail for the world's wealthiest car collectors. Now chassis number 3387GT, the second GTO ever built, is at the centre of a court fight. It seems Volkswagen has a plan for how to compete with the Model 3, Tesla's cheapest electric car. It's pretty simple: just undercut the Model 3 on price by a huge margin. The Model 3 currently costs $45,000 (before savings) where as Volkswagen is planning a $23,000 alternative. Ever since the emissions scandal, Volkswagen has been working to repair its reputation and part of that involves embracing electric vehicles. Last year, the German manufacturer promised to electrify 300 vehicle models by 2030 as well as installing 2,800 charging stations across the US. Now the attention is turning to new vehicles and the leader in the EV market right now: Tesla. As Reuters reports, a source familiar with Volkswagen's plans revealed a new $23,000 electric car known as the "MEB entry" will be discussed at a supervisory board meeting on Nov. 16. If it goes ahead, the plan is to convert three existing factories to start producing the entry-level electric vehicle. The production goal is 200,000 … [Read more...] about Report: Volkswagen Planning $23K Electric Car

Check out what's clicking on Foxnews.com A 75-foot-tall wave was recorded last month about 20 miles off the coast of California while the region was being hit with the "bomb cyclone." On average, waves near the Cape Mendocino buoy usually average about 10 feet, SFGate.com reported. But on Nov. 26, the average height was about 43 feet tall. The largest wave—which occurred in the evening hours—was 75 feet. James Behrens, the manager for Scripp's Coastal Data Information Program, told the website that a wave of that size to occur so close to land is extremely rare. "The only other station in the network that measured a wave this large is deployed 800 miles off the coast of Washington,” he said. The "bomb cyclone" hit northern California and southern Oregon during one of the busiest travel times of the year. The storm brought powerful … [Read more...] about 75-foot wave recorded off California during last month’s ‘bomb cyclone’
Customers, instead of visiting showroms, now do most of their decision-making in the comfort of their drawing rooms using internet Carmakers in India, the world’s fifth-largest market, are no longer seeing a growth in footfalls at showrooms though the volume of sales is going up. Companies say the frequency of visits per customer has seen a decline in recent years as buyers are relying more on product information available online to arrive at a purchase decision. "The showroom footfalls are going down because the moment of truth is happening in the comfort of the drawing rooms of the customers. So, they are doing lot of research and finally coming to the showrooms. "Earlier the customers used to make three-four visits to different showrooms before taking a decision," said R S Kalsi, senior executive director (marketing and sales) at the country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki. He said the conversion ratio was much better when they came to showroom well informed.
