Our favorite denim enthusiast was caught in khakis at the new Corvette reveal. He was given access to the car along with Corvette Chief Engineer Ed Piatek. In a teaser for his show’s new season, Jay Leno shows off a blue 2020 Corvette Stingray. Ed reveals how practical the 8th generation Corvette is, starting with the trunk. This unique space behind the engine can hold 2 sets of golf clubs, or the Targa roof panel. Because the engine is behind the cockpit, the 2020 Corvette is comfortable for taller customers. The squared-off steering wheel and low door sill make entry and exit much easier. We’ll have to wait for a proper road test since his new season premiers August 28th. It doesn’t take common core math to understand the implications of Leno + Lambo. Lamborghinis look amazing, even if they need to be restored. What you don’t normally see is their masterpiece engines up close & personal. That’s why we were excited to hear the loud Lamborghini 350 GT V12 engine on Jay Leno’s Garage. You might not know that Lamborghini has also been involved in powerboat racing for decades. TV Show Image Gallery Comedian Steve Allen hula-hooping during rehearsal. Peter Stackpole/AFP/ In 2009, Conan O'Brian will replace Jay Leno as the host of NBC's "The Tonight Show." For regular viewers of the program, this is a fairly big event, as Leno will have hosted for 17 years. But "The Tonight Show" has been around for much longer -- more than 50 years, in fact -- and has seen a variety of hosts, performers and guests. The late night program debuted on NBC on Sept. 24, 1954, with Steve Allen as the first host. Simply called "Tonight," the show was a blend of comedy, interview, musical performance and general buffoonery that set the basic template for future late-night television. After Allen left to pursue other comedic goals in early 1957, the program went through several hosts and format changes. The network attempted a few news and magazine arrangements over the following months, but nothing really caught on until Jack Paar began hosting the show in July 1957 and … [Read more...] about Sept. 24, 1954: NBC’s ‘Tonight Show’ Debuts
