(Brittany Hosea-Small/AFP/Getty Images) The long wait for the Mac Pro is nearly over. Apple's $6,000+ desktop finally goes on sale tomorrow, Dec. 10. Oddly, Apple's website still says the Mac Pro is "coming this fall." But over the weekend, the company quietly announced a Dec. 10 launch date in an email notification to prospective customers. Also tomorrow, another obscenely expensive product from Apple is going on sale: the 32-inch Pro Display XDR, a $4,999 monitor. No other information was given in the email, but we expect Apple to update its website soon with configuration options for the Mac Pro, as well as corresponding prices. For now, all we know is that the base model Mac Pro will start at $6,000; it comes with an eight-core 3.5GHz Intel Xeon W processor. How much the higher models will go for is still a mystery. But customers will be able to choose to fully maxed-out the Mac Pro with a 28-core Intel Xeon W chip, 1.5TB of RAM, and two AMD Radeon Pro Vega II GPUs. Pro-Europe Tories must locate their rebel spirit – and make the case for remain
If hardline Brexiteers were free to shop around for beatable enemies they probably wouldn’t change much about the current state of British politics. Their preferred candidate is well ahead in the final straight of a Tory leadership contest, and his rival doesn’t dare to contradict him on the issue that matters most. In hustings on Monday night, Boris Johnson ruled out any Brexit compromise based on revision of the Northern Irish backstop. And that is the only route to a negotiated, orderly resolution visible from Brussels. No backstop; no deal. Jeremy Hunt might have inserted some practical reality into the conversation, if only for the sake of his intellectual credibility, but instead he endorsed the central tenet of Johnsonism: the only Brexit deal worth aiming for is one that doesn’t exist. It is not news that dignity is soluble in ambition. Hunt, like Matt Hancock and Amber Rudd, has examined the price of a seat at Johnson’s cabinet table and decided he is … [Read more...] about Pro-Europe Tories must locate their rebel spirit – and make the case for remain
Labour must challenge pro-austerity dogma
The YouGov poll in July (Anti-austerity agenda a vote loser, poll reveals, 5 August) is surprising, not that 56% (of the 3,000 electorate sample) agreed that “we must live within our means, so cutting the deficit is the top priority”, but rather that 44% did not. This is the dogma that has been pumped out relentlessly by George Osborne, all three main political parties, the City and business establishments, and the rightwing 70% of the media for five years. It is extraordinary that such an orchestrated barrage, opposed not even by the Labour party, should command support from only slightly over half the population. And of course the 44% who disagreed or were not convinced by austerity were right. We should indeed live within our means, but the best way to do that is by growth, not by endless cuts. Despite five years of grinding austerity, the deficit is still an enormous £90bn, having been cut by only £24bn over the last three years. At that rate it will take … [Read more...] about Labour must challenge pro-austerity dogma
Ivanka Trump Needs to ‘Show Up’ for Women, Stop ‘Trading Away’ Their Rights, Planned Parenthood President Says
First daughter Ivanka Trump, who has promised to advocate for women in the White House, needs to "show up" and prove that commitment, Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards said.On tour, Richards elaborated on the claim in her new book Make Trouble: Standing Up, Speaking Out, and Finding the Courage to Lead, that Trump and her husband Jared Kushner seemingly tried to "bribe" her to stop providing abortions in exchange for more federal funding in January 2017.Kushner apparently did most of the talking. Richards, who is stepping down from her role, in a recent stop in Oregon detailed how Trump acted and scrutinized her for it."My criticism of her isn't as a daughter of the president—it's that if you're supposedly in charge of advancing women's situations in this country, then show up," said Richards, according to W magazine. "And for God's sake, you can't be trading away women's rights.""That's not a very effective goal," she said.Richards acknowledged the "complexity" of … [Read more...] about Ivanka Trump Needs to ‘Show Up’ for Women, Stop ‘Trading Away’ Their Rights, Planned Parenthood President Says
Indian-American Community Feels ‘Betrayed, Cheated’ by Pramila Jayapal’s Resolution on Kashmir
New York: Members of the Indian-American community say they feel betrayed, cheated and saddened by Indian-American Democratic Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal, who has introduced a Congressional resolution on Kashmir, saying that the lawmaker is "pandering for political advantage through it. Jayapal on Friday introduced a Congressional resolution urging India to end the restrictions on communications in Jammu and Kashmir as swiftly as possible and preserve religious freedom for all residents. The Indian-American community, which has strongly supported the Democrats in the US over the decades, is voicing anger and hurt over Jayapal moving ahead with introducing the legislation even though Indian-Americans had urged her against it. In a strong criticism of Jayapal, Indian-American attorney Ravi Batra told PTI that "her resolution mocks America and interferes in a bilateral relationship between India and the US. I look upon as Pramila Jayapal as completely unprincipled, un-American, … [Read more...] about Indian-American Community Feels ‘Betrayed, Cheated’ by Pramila Jayapal’s Resolution on Kashmir
[Read more...] about Gobierno federal investiga a Google por prácticas antisindicales
