How to Change Your Status in Microsoft Teams
When you’re working remotely, you need to let people know if you’re available or not. Microsoft Teams has a visible status you can change depending on your availability so your colleagues know whether they can bother you or not. Your status is displayed as a colored circle next to your profile. You can see this at all times in the top-right corner of Teams. You can also see a person’s status in their profile next to a chat. Microsoft Teams will change your status automatically under certain circumstances, such as when you’re in a meeting or video call, or if you’ve been inactive for a period of time. But you can also change it manually as well. And if you miss any of that, it will send you a missed activity email. If you work somewhere that uses Microsoft Teams a lot, this can become a barrage of alerts that constantly interrupt you with information that you don’t need to know. Getting pulled out of your focused zone by an alert telling you that Geoff from Accounts has just come online is really not helpful or productive. You should decide what’s worthy of … [Read more...] about How to Configure Microsoft Teams Notifications

It’s a numeric keypad—but how did it get there, and why is it laid out the way it is? Let’s explore its origins. It’s All About the Math Computers have numeric keypads because they make repetitive data entry easier. They allow you to type numbers and perform mathematical operations rapidly, with only one hand. The modern numeric keypad layout—sometimes called a “tenkey” layout—can trace its roots back to David Sundstrand, whose company released the first commercial tenkey mechanical adding machine in 1914. In Sundstrand’s adding machine key layout, you can see the rudiments of now-standard setup: ten numeral keys, arranged in three rows of three with the … [Read more...] about Where Did the Numeric Keypads on PC Keyboards Come From?
