A joint Toyota/Subaru sports car project has been in the works for what feels like forever. Now, finally, here's the first look, a heavily production-based concept called the Toyota FT-86 set to debut this month at the Tokyo Motor Show. The Toyota FT-86 concept is the fruit of cooperation between Toyota Motor Company and Subaru, and as such will wear a common chassis and some degree of engine commonality, at the least a 2.0 liter, four cylinder boxer engine dubbed the "C-45 Boxer" and making between 200 and 250 HP will power the rear wheels through a manual six speed transmission, and get this — no hybrid system. A hoon sees an on-ramp as an opportunity for shenanigans, and what's better to hoon than an early '80s Toyota AE86 coupe with like three shades of paint on it? Old Toyotas are so much fun. This hoon was captured by Middleswine, who describes the circumstances: I filmed this on the way to work this morning; this guy overcooked it while attempting to drift and proceeded to spin out in to a 360/burnout. At the previous light, a left turn, he drifted it rather nicely around the turn. Seeing this, I grabbed my camera when we were stopped at the next light. Larry Chen at Speedhunters recently uncovered the unbelievable "brand new" 25 year old AE86 Toyota Corolla seen here on a trip to Belgium. If you've ever wondered what a perfectly optioned AE86 would have looked like fresh from the dealer's lot, wonder no more. This Corolla has only traveled 48 kilometers in the past 25 years, which explains the car's amazing as new appearance. After driving this brand new Corolla home from the dealership in a display of unbelievable restraint the car's owner drained the gas tank and parked the car where you see it these pictures.
