Hybrid technology combined with powerful engines has led to a new generation of supercars. From McLaren’s P1 to Porsche’s 918 Spyder, batteries and voltage add a new dimension to performance. As one of the original producers of hybrid production cars, Honda decided to pull out all the stops and throw their hat in the ring. The second generation NSX is badged as an Acura in the US, and built in a dedicated plant in Marysville, Ohio. It arrived with a list of accolades from the press and from automotive engineers, so it’s worth your time to experience a 2017 Acura NSX for sale.In keeping with tradition, a rear mounted V6 is the basis of power. But that is the only characteristic inherited from the predecessor. The new engine is a 75-degree 3.5 liter making 500 horsepower. A 9-speed dual clutch transmission has an electric motor/generator that is linked to two individual ones on the front axles. Total power output is 573 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. Do you own a McLaren 720S? Do you ever get upset that your child doesn’t get to experience what it’s like to drive such a fine supercar? Don’t worry, because McLaren has just unveiled the new 720S “Ride-On,” a new model built specifically for kids. The new 720S Ride-On follows in the footsteps of the P1 Ride-On, which debuted back in 2016. Imagine you’re a kid, walking up to this car, getting in and feeling like an absolute legend. I mean, the doors even go “up” like the real deal 720S. The 720S Ride-On is powered by an electric motor and can be operated via the pedals or remote control. That R/C is for when your kid is getting out of hand, trying to see how bad it would hurt if they ran it into your legs. McLaren also notes that the accelerator pedal also adds engine sounds and the brake pedal has real brake lights that work in unison. Were the doors and brake lights not enough for you? Well, how about a dashboard display screen. This … [Read more...] about New McLaren 720S for Kids – The Doors Even Go Up!
It must be a fun experience to be a McLaren engineer. First you build the world’s most potent production cars, then you are allowed to transform them into track-only superstars. Two versions of their latest achievement were on display last weekend. We have seen a few examples of the Senna, and we are acquainted with its abilities. But did you realize they took it to another level? If you wonder how to improve upon perfection, a McLaren Senna GTR overview was filmed at Goodwood. Their goal was to increase downforce and decrease aerodynamic drag. Even a challenge that complicated was not compromised. Instead, they went back to the drawing board and created a wider and longer body. A street-legal Senna lies under the flared fenders and massive spoilers. The rear of the car is longer to house a massive diffuser. It also places the rear spoiler in an optimal location to decrease drag. Without catalytic converters, the 4.0L V8 makes 814 horsepower & 590 lb-ft of torque. … [Read more...] about McLaren Senna GTR Overview Filmed at Goodwood
McLaren has been getting hotter and hotter with each year, and 2018 was their hottest year yet. The McLaren 2018 sales numbers have been announced, and they report that they’ve sold 4,806 cars in 2018. For comparison’s sake, that’s a 43.9% increase over 2017’s sales (3,340 cars). This news of a record-breaking year was expected, as McLaren Automotive has been increasing sales numbers every year since it formed in 2010. North America has been McLaren’s biggest single market, representing over a third of their global sales. “Record sales highlight what a momentous year 2018 was for McLaren Automotive when over 4,800 cars left our Production Centre,” said Mike Flewitt, Chief Executive Officer, McLaren Automotive. “That compares to 1,650 in 2015 showing the remarkable expansion in just three years as we work to consolidate growth to 6,000 cars a year by the end of our Track25 business plan.” The McLaren Production Center (MPC) in … [Read more...] about McLaren 2018 Sales: More Cars Sold Than Ever Before
The one place we hope the P1 and F1 really diverge is in the number of units sold. McLaren had hoped to sell 300 F1s until the supercar market took a plunge, leaving it with just 64 road-going cars before production stopped. McLaren has sold their entire production run of P1s—375 examples. When we have one at a show, we are often asked: “How Much Is A McLaren P1?” When the order books were opened for US dealers, the McLaren P1 price was $1,150,000. For the ultimate example, the P1 GTR, one of our consigners has the first street-legal P1 GTR listed at $7,000,000. McLaren has repeatedly stated there will not be a hybrid successor in the near future, so expect values to rise for these amazing machines. McLaren P1 Review Driving in traffic, the amount of power provided by IPAS really depends on how much electrical energy is left in the battery pack.
