COPIAGUE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) – Police are searching for a man seen on video robbing a Long Island store at knifepoint. The armed robbery happened around 10:15 p.m. on Nov. 5 at Venom Smoke Shop on Montauk Highway in Copiague. Surveillance video shows the masked suspect approach the clerk with a large hunting knife. He chases the clerk behind the counter and demands cash, yelling “Let’s go! All of it, bro!” The clerk complied, and the man made off with an unknown amount of money. Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case. Lost amid the typical craziness of a college football Saturday was some very bad news out of Lexington. Kentucky beat Eastern Michigan 38-17 but the most significant action in the game came in the third quarter when Wildcats quarterback Terry Wilson was brought down by a nasty horsecollar tackle and needed to be carted off the field. It goes without saying that a QB getting taken off in that manner is not a great sign and it was made even worse by what TV cameras caught Mark Stoops saying to EMU head coach Chris Creighton after the game: "I had to get him a few snaps, my guy is out for the year." MARYLAND — Maryland ranks 13th in the country based on pedestrian fatality rates in the first six months of 2018, according to a new report from the Governors Highway Safety Association. The safety organization looked at pedestrian traffic deaths in every state to see which had the highest rates. The group broke down the information by total number of fatalities, fatality rates per 100,000 people, and the percent change from the same time period in 2017. Motorcyclist is awarded $21 MILLION in damages after being hurled across three lanes of traffic
A California jury awarded $21.5million to a motorcyclist who was hit by a car and hurled across three lanes of highway traffic in an incident that was caught on video. The Los Angeles County Superior Court jury reached its verdict and awarded the money to motorcyclist Matthew Rada, 28, of Culver City, California, following an afternoon of deliberations Tuesday. Rada had filed a lawsuit against the car's driver, Justin Dimapasac, and his employer, Hardin Irvine Automotive Inc., in March 2018, a month after the dramatic incident occurred on the 405 Freeway in Westminster, California, according to KNX1070.
