By Gayle Thompson - December 9, 2019 02:51 pm EST Share 0 Comments 0 It wasn't until Keith Urban had already recorded his latest single, "We Were," that he found out that his friend, Eric Church, was a co-writer on it. But as soon as heard that Church had a hand in writing the song, he insisted that Church head back into the studio with him to record a new version of the contemplative tune. “As soon as I found out he was a writer, the first thing I wanted to do is I wanted to hear him sing that song," Urban shared with his record label. "’Cause in my head I heard it top to bottom, so I called him and I said, ‘Would you come in some time and do a version?’ At the end of the summer, he came by and spent a couple of hours at Sound Emporium Studios. Just hearing him sing the song and do his own thing to it — changing all the phrasing, changing the melody, the odd lyric changing. "I sat there and watched him sing it several times back to … [Read more...] about Keith Urban Insisted Eric Church Record ‘We Were’ With Him: ‘He’s a Great Storyteller’
Here’s the thing: Eric Cantor did not fall asleep in this race. He spent around $5 million. He ran lots of TV ads. He knew this was going to be a close one. He campaigned. And he still got creamed. And here’s the other thing: Cantor was not an enemy of the Tea Party. He was in fact the Tea Party’s guy in the leadership for much of the Barack Obama era. He carried the tea into the speaker’s office. And still he got creamed. Creamed! Has a party leader ever lost a primary like this? Stop and take this in. Like any political journalist, I’m a little bit of a historian of this sort of thing, although I readily admit my knowledge isn’t encyclopedic. But I sure can’t think of anything. Tom Foley, the Democratic House speaker in the early 1990s, lost reelection while he was speaker, but that was in the general, to a Republican, which is a whole different ballgame. And he was the first sitting speaker to lose an election since…get … [Read more...] about Eric Cantor’s Primary Loss Is a Political Earthquake. And It’s Awful.
Former Attorney General Eric Holder, like many of his Democrat counterparts, on Monday claimed victory following the release of the Justice Department’s inspector general (IG) report, proclaiming that it showed “conclusively that there was a need for Russia inquiry” and accusing critics – including Attorney General William Barr – of being “politically motivated.”The DOJ’s internal watchdog blasted the bureau for “significant inaccuracies and omissions” in its application to surveil former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page and outlined 17 inaccuracies “involving three applications filed under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, which may have inflated the bureau’s justification for surveillance against Page,” as Breitbart News detailed. Overall, Horowitz’s report acknowledged “serious performance failures by the supervisory and non-supervisory agents” but found a … [Read more...] about Eric Holder Claims Victory over IG Report, Suggests AG Barr, Critics Were ‘Politically Motivated’
It is impossible to trump Donald Trump when it comes to the interview as performance art, but the Republican presidential candidate's second son, Eric, came awfully close Tuesday on CBS This Morning. In any other campaign it would have been the most surreal moment of the day, but who knew that Pop would be given a Purple Heart from a veteran later that same morning and quip, "I always wanted to get the Purple Heart; this was much easier."Eric Trump, 32, appeared in studio in the morning show's opening hour with co-hosts Charlie Rose, Gayle King and Norah O'Donnell. You should watch the video for yourself, but allow me to provide detailed analysis of what may best be described as "acute Trumpism.":32—:54Eric Trump notes that "presidential politics" are "absolutely ruthless," which prompts Rose to interject that "Gold Star families [such as the parents of Army Captain Humayun Khan, who was killed in Iraq] are not ruthless." Trump concurs, saying, "By the way, there's no question, … [Read more...] about Like Father, Like Son: Eric Trump’s Bizarre Interview on ‘CBS This Morning’
On Saturday evening, ESPN’s Stephen Smith was castigated by Carolina Panthers’ safety Eric Reid over his video in which he commented negatively on former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s behavior. Here’s a quick refresher. On Tuesday, Kaepernick was offered an opportunity to demonstrate his prowess to league members at a “workout” event on Saturday. A memo from the NFL reportedly stated in part: “We have … arranged this opportunity for him to work out, and for all clubs to have the opportunity to evaluate his current readiness and level of interest in resuming his NFL career.” On Saturday, approximately half an hour before the event was set to begin at the Atlanta Falcons’ training facility, Kaepernick called an audible, moving the showing to a high school in Riverdale, Georgia. This move was allegedly the result of the NFL not allowing Kaepernick to bring his own camera crew, and reportedly wanting him to sign a waiver … [Read more...] about ESPN’s Stephen Smith Slammed By Panthers’ Safety Eric Reid Over ‘Kaepernick’ Rant; Smith Strikes Back
Eric Bledsoe probably isn’t going anywhere any time soon. The Phoenix Suns are asking a king’s ransom for the star point guard, and several teams have apparently been taken aback at the asking price for the 27-year-old. Then again, Bledsoe will still have to answer for his infamous tweet in which he publicly asked for a trade. Or he was at the hair salon, which some aren’t buying. In either case, the NBA has reportedly fined Bledsoe $10,000 for the public request. This would stand in line with the league fining players for public trade requests. A recent case occurred when former Suns forward Markieff Morris publicly said he was not going to be in Phoenix in 2015. Via AZCentral: Scoop: NBA fined Eric Bledsoe $10,000 for Oct. 22 Tweet in which he said, "I Dont wanna be here." Details soon at https://t.co/ZbmnnmvhsH — scott bordow (@sbordow) November 5, 2017 This makes a lot of sense from a league perspective. Teams lose a lot of bargaining power when a … [Read more...] about Report: Eric Bledsoe fined $10,000 for “I don’t wanna be here” tweet
