Speedway champion Michael Pickens loses appeal to race for New Zealand
FACEBOOK/Michael Pickens Michael Pickens has shared a video of the incident to social media. Speedway champion Michael Pickens has been unsuccessful in his bid to overturn a ban for making physical contact with an official. Pickens fronted a Speedway New Zealand (SNZ) appeal hearing on Thursday but he has since revealed the original fixed 22-day stand down will apply. The Auckland driver admitted making contact with a track official at Western Springs Speedway on November 1 but says it was a tap of the shoulder to alert him that his $150,000 midget was on fire. The complaint was made by an official but not the one Pickens made contact with. In fact, the official Pickens touched made a submission to SNZ's hearing in support of the champion driver.
