Our friend Steve Saleen is calling on all S7 owners. He wants to see his creations gathered together in Monterey next year for the Saleen S7 20th Anniversary Celebration. The iconic American supercar debuted at the Monterey Historic Races back in 2000, and they have proven themselves on tracks around the world. He said, “The S7 was immediately competitive in motorsports from day one, winning over 100 professional races at the world’s top racetracks including Daytona, Nürburgring, Silverstone, Imola, Spa-Francorchamps and the 24 Hours of Le Mans – and that was just in the first ten years of its existence”. The S7 LeMans Edition was recently introduced, and all 7 were sold before completion. The Ford V8 and twin turbos offered 1,500 horsepower with a price of $1 Million each. Thankfully, our dealers always have a few pristine examples for sale, so click the link below and make plans to join the festivities next year. Steve Saleen never fails to impress. While the core business of performance parts has always been strong, he looked to China for a new investor. Jiangsu Secco Automobile purchased a majority of Saleen two years ago. It allowed them to develop the S1 and bring it to the market. With such a high demand for fast cars in China, the Saleen S7 has been resurrected with 1,500 horsepower. The 2020 Saleen S7 Le Mans is powered by a 7.0L Ford V8 and twin turbos. It is the same recipe used in the S7 Twin Turbo, and technology has advanced significantly over the past 2 decades. Automotive Journalist Greg Kable (@GregKable) has close ties to the Chinese automakers, and he tweeted this photo from the reveal: If these specs are accurate, we are looking at a 1,500 horsepower supercar. It is rated at 1,327 lb-ft of torque, which is asking a lot from a Ford Windsor block. You will be at 62 mph in 2.2 seconds on your way to 298 mph! The unveiling was a big event, with the parent company also unveiling … [Read more...] about Saleen S7 Resurrected With 1,500 Horsepower!
The Saleen S7 was one of the best supercars in the world for the period that it was built. Using advanced design techniques and engineering while deriving power from a tried and true 427ci Ford pushrod V8 engine, it was literally the best modern blend of new and old that the automotive world may ever see. There was even a twin turbo version that came out before its ultimate demise more than 10 years ago. But what about racing? Remember, Steve Saleen is above all else, a racer and that’s why the company created the S7 R which was a formidable car if not one that racked up a huge resume of race wins. Built in small volume over the period of several years, the S7 R was plagued by the typical stuff that any new road racing car is plagued with, especially one built by a small manufacturer. You are in shark infested waters to begin with, attempting to compete with the biggest names and budgets in racing, and you have new cars. While the first couple seasons were not drenched in … [Read more...] about Thundering Saleen S7 R At The Spa Classic Ford 427
