5 Great Programming Languages for Kids
If you’re a teacher or you have a kid interested in programming, it can be confusing to sort out the dozens of options available. We’ve picked five great programming languages (and environments) that will give kids a head start in the world of software development. The Language Isn’t as Important as the Motivation Before we get started, it’s important to know that, arguably, the specific programming language your child uses isn’t as important as the motivation they have to achieve a certain goal, such as creating a game, solving a problem, or creating an app. Once your child learns a programming language, many of the concepts can transfer easily to other languages (with differences in syntax ), so you almost can’t go wrong—as long as your kid has the enthusiasm to learn. That being said, some languages and programming environments might be more fun than others. We’ve collected some of those here. Although this is by no means an exhaustive or definitive list, you’ll be off … [Read more...] about 5 Great Programming Languages for Kids
How to Enlarge a Virtual Machine’s Disk in VirtualBox or VMware
When you create a virtual hard disk in VirtualBox or VMware, you specify a maximum disk size. If you want more space on your virtual machine’s hard disk later, you’ll have to enlarge the virtual hard disk and partition. Note that you may want to back up your virtual hard disk file before performing these operations — there’s always a chance something can go wrong, so it’s always good to have backups. However, the process worked fine for us. Update: Use the Virtual Media Manager in VirtualBox VirtualBox 6 added a graphical option for enlarging and resizing virtual disks. To access it, click File > Virtual Media Manager in the main VirtualBox window. Select a virtual hard disk in the list and use the “Size” slider at the bottom of the window to change its size. Click “Apply” when you’re done. You will still have to enlarge the partition on the disk to take advantage of the additional space. The partition remains the same size even while the disk size increases. See … [Read more...] about How to Enlarge a Virtual Machine’s Disk in VirtualBox or VMware

6 episodes of Nathan For You that laid the groundwork for The Rehearsal
Nathan Fielder’s The Rehearsal is one of the most fascinating reality shows in the genre’s history—in part because its approach to “reality” is so frequently full of constructions, manipulations, and blatantly unreal moments. With every episode, Fielder (or maybe “Fielder,” the curated, sometimes-deranged version of himself that the comedian has been putting in front of cameras for nearly a decade at this point) seems to retreat deeper and deeper into the false worlds he’s built around both his subjects and himself. To lift a Willy Wonka metaphor from Kor Skeete, the trivia-loving subject of The Rehearsal ’s table-setting first episode : It’s like he’s constantly threatening to lose himself in his own candy factory. As we desperately prepare our spirits for the show’s season finale this week (and the possibility that “Fielder” might simply disappear into his world of warehouse bars and false fatherhood, possibly for good), it feels germane to look back at how we got … [Read more...] about 6 episodes of Nathan For You that laid the groundwork for The Rehearsal
She-Hulk: Attorney At Law gets off to a fun, self-aware start
“What is the responsibility of those with power? Do they merely have an obligation to refrain from the misuse of that power, or do they have a duty to protect those without it?” Watch Anthony Hopkins transcends human consciousness as an NFT 01:45 Now playing Alison Brie talks "Spin Me Round" Yesterday 7:13PM 00:58 Now playing Robert De Niro to double our pleasure in upcoming film Tuesday 7:30PM This is the question that opens She-Hulk: Attorney At Law , spoken straight to camera by one Jennifer Walters, a (seemingly) mild-mannered assistant DA. It’s basically Spider-Man’s famous mantra—“With great power comes great responsibility”—rephrased as a moral hypothetical. And isn’t that just like a lawyer? And make no mistake: Jen is a lawyer first and foremost; that she also happens to be a friggin’ Hulk is entirely incidental, your … [Read more...] about She-Hulk: Attorney At Law gets off to a fun, self-aware start
