All our Harry Potter dreams could be coming true, if reports Daniel Radcliffe will reprise his role as the wizard in a new film are true. It's been five years since the release of The Deathly Hallows part 2 and according to sources in the US, Warner Bros. are keen to work their big screen magic on the West End play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child with the original Harry reprising his role as the now adult wizard. The two-part play, which focuses on the antics of Harry's son Albus' and the next generation of Hogwarts students, opened to rave reviews earlier this month, with the book version of the script setting record sales. According to the New York Daily News, the movie studio behind the Potter franchise is keen not to miss out and are looking to bag the movie rights to the play and get Radclife on board. “Warners is secretly working on getting the movie rights and a screenplay settled, and of course in their minds only one man should be Harry,” a source told the US … [Read more...] about Daniel Radcliffe set to reprise his role as Harry Potter in movie version of The Cursed Child?

Harry Potter and The Cursed Child set to become the biggest book of the decade
J.K. Rowling still has the magical touch as Harry Potter and The Cursed Child is set to become the biggest book of the decade. The book form of the script, a long-awaited continuation of the Potter story, has been disappearing off shelves in the biggest single week of sales in the UK this decade. The print version of the West End play, which was published on July 31, has already sold more than 680,000 copies in Great Britain. The previous record holder in the past 10 years was Fifty Shades of Grey in 2012, with 664,478 print copies sold, according to Nielsen BookScan. Bookshops around the country celebrated the release of the Harry Potter book, which contains parts one and two of the script complete with stage directions, with midnight parties. Set 19 years after the events of the seventh and final book, The Cursed Child brings back the wizard, now grown up and an employee at the Ministry of Magic. Harry and his wife Ginny Weasley wave their youngest son Albus Severus, named after … [Read more...] about Harry Potter and The Cursed Child set to become the biggest book of the decade
Harry Potter fans embrace ‘magical’ new Snapchat filter with predictably enthusiastic results
Harry Potter is enjoying something of a comeback at the moment. Wizarding fans have been queuing around the block to get their hands on the newly-released Harry Potter and the Cursed Child book. And selfie-sharing app Snapchat has got in on the action with a brand new Harry Potter-themed filter. Filters are animated additions that you add to selfies before sending them to your mates. This one gives you a scarf, some specs and a scar - turning you into the boy wizard himself. And, predictably, the online community is getting pretty enthusiastic about it. Even Hollywood stars are getting involved in the fun. Actress Kate Hudson showed off a picture of herself with the filter applied. Snapchat is often producing new features to keep things fresh. Earlier this year it revealed Face Swap - a popular way for people to combine their selfies with some unnerving results. The addictive messaging app now features emoji-like stickers, similar to the ones you can select in Facebook Messenger. … [Read more...] about Harry Potter fans embrace ‘magical’ new Snapchat filter with predictably enthusiastic results
The Movie Review: ‘Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban’
I suspect I am not the only person who was a bit surprised when it was first announced that Alfonso Cuarón had been signed to direct Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, the third film adaptation of J.K. Rowling's (deservedly) ubiquitous novels. Yes, the Mexican-born director had helmed A Little Princess, a movie featuring a young protagonist who, like Harry, had lost her parents. But he had more recently (and more famously) directed Y Tu Mama Tambien, a sexually explicit film about the relationship between two teenage boys and an older woman. Fortunately, any fears that Cuarón would have Harry and wizarding buddy Ron Weasley trading graphic descriptions of their sexual conquests--Y Professor McGonagall Tambien?--proved unfounded. Rather, Cuarón brought to the Potter franchise a quality curiously missing from the two previous films: magic. The first two attempts to bring Rowling's work to the big screen--Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and Harry Potter and the … [Read more...] about The Movie Review: ‘Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban’
